Just figured a thread should be started that centered on new game modes for coh. I have seen suggestions for new and quite original game modes, and would like to see some interesting posts detailing candidates for future game modes maybe with the next coh release or in some patch.

yeah a king of the hill (ie only one VP point would be cool, or a inf only setting would be awesome!)

What I'd like to see is a defensive set up. What I mean by that is one team controls a defensible area with an established defensive line(s) and some "critical" unit or structure behind the line they have to defend. The opposing team consists of more players, and must breach the enemy defenses and take out that target inside of a set time limit (variable, a sever side option). The attacking team would also have greater income and higher pop limit. To avoid an early game "base rush" by either side, the attacking team would start with more troops in their bases, while the defending team would start with less forces, but spread out amongst their defensive line right at the start. If you've played the D-Day Co-op in vCoH, that's more or less what I'm thinking.

Yeah, more 'scenarioesque' options would be cool.  Having to defend a point (where you start out with men and positions) would appeal most to me.

Oh, how about this, one side starts off with a couple cloaked infantry units (snipers, sturmies, have commandos able to cloak for this game type, etc) while the other has oodles of forces over a fairly large maps. The infiltrating team must destroy certain critical targets (fuel dumbs, barracks, etc) or assassinate certain infantry units (officer, KCH) which are not under direct control of the defending faction. The defending faction has to either a) kill the opposing forces (hunt them down) or b) if they succeed in destroying their objectives, the defending team can destroy their getaway, like a plane which spawns upon completing objectives, or blowing a bridge, etc.

i like the stealth and defend options, but i know, as an avid maker of these types of maps, that oodles of people will complain nonstop*cough Ludwig*
The stealth game would be really interesting, except the defenders shouldn't know what the objective is, that way they cant just mass around it and wait, their only option would be to set up a perimeter and dig in

An awesome mode could be a railway, and the allies team must set three demo packs(either engies with D-pacs, or commandos), and blow up a train which will arrive in a displayed amount of time.

That sounds like something that would be in the SP campaign than in a game.  Having game modes like the campaigns would be cool though, even if it was only on certain maps.

or a cool one would be 4-5 allied players with only airborne and engies have 5 minutes to dig in along a road b4 a huge axis force attacks(controlled by actual players, or comp), the players woul have nearly infinte ammo/ manpower, but no ability to reinforce, no medic bunkers, no brit emplacements, just mines, demo charges, sandbags, wire, and weapons(weapons would be placed on the map)
Or they coluld have sappers, and commandos, but still no emplacements, but they could build radios SB's, wire, and tank traps

That would actually be awesome.  Just have a massive CPU assault on a point.  Basically, put 3 VP's in a clustered area that the allied players have to defend with limited manpower.

but if at any piont an Allied player types in "Nuts" the CPU throws everything in their arsenal against them. (props to whoever knows what I'm talking about)

god dammit im so tired of people going kudos to whoever knows what im talking about, before giving something that any history buff would know, "nuts" is what the commander of the 101 airborne said to the german commander who demanded their surrender during the battle of the buldge, And DAMN your Commando Blobs to HELL!

well I'm used to dealing with idiots, so sue me.

And 3 squads being moved from cover to cover is not a blob, if I had just charged them at your troops with no regard for their safety, that would have been a blob.
